Holidays during June


Saint Bartholomew




History




According to folk Saint Bartholomew is the master of the heavenly elements - thunderand hail. So on this day does not work in the fields, women wash their heads, not tobecome "sturdied"and "crazy“.



How to celebrate


•At this day people don`t work at the field because they believe that this will bring them bad luck. They make a feast and celebrate with their family.






Saint Elisha






History of Saint Elisha




Celebration is celebrated on June 14 (June 27, old style), together with St. Methodius,Patriarch of Constantinople.St. prophet Elisha was of Reuben knee. Lived in IX century BC. Student of the prophet Elijah - done many miracles.









How to celebrate




Lissoni, Lisse - celebration, honored as one of the hail, along with Germany, andBartholomew Vida, which is considered to be their sister.In Lom is celebrated for the prevention of disease Lissoni (balding, hair loss). Baldpeople collect herbs and boil them. With potion wash their heads.According to traditional rules just need to be sown until the feast of Saint Elisha. On this occasion, farmers say: "By Elisha unless you sow will not reap.








Vidov’s Day




•According to a folk tradition festival in honor of Vida, the sister of two saints Vartolomey and Elisha, and notes to prevent hail. It is therefore assumed that this day should not be handled, so as not to anger hail.

St. Peter's day



Celebrate


The Petrov Shrovetide that start on the first week after The Fiftieth Day ends on Petrovden. A chicken called petrovsko is slaughtered. Ritual breads are kneaded and apples petrovki are eaten and some are given away as a commemoration of the dead. Fairs are held in some villages.





Orthodox Church





The Bulgarian Orthodox Church remembered Monday the sufferings of the Holy Glorious and All-Praised Apostles Peter and Paul.In Bulgaria, the day is known as Peters' Day and all named Peter, Petya and Kamen celebrate.This feast day commemorates the martyrdom of the two great Apostles, assigned by tradition to the same day of June in the year 67.





Feast


For the Eastern Orthodox Christians this feast also marks the end of the Apostles' Fast. It is considered a day of recommended attendance, whereon one should attend the All-Night Vigil (or at least Vespers) on the eve, and the Divine Liturgy on the morning of the feast.





They had been imprisoned in the famous Mamertine Prison of Rome and both had foreseen their approaching death.
Saint Peter was crucified; Saint Paul, a Roman citizen, was slain by a sword. Tomorrow the Church commemorates the Apostle of the Gentiles; today is dedicated primarily to Saint Peter.






Pavliov’s day







History



Pavlyuvden, Pauluvden - popular festival, celebrated mainly in eastern Bulgaria toprotect against fire, fire, lightning and occasionally by hail. Connect with old traditionalideas about the destructive power of fire. On Pavlyovden is strictly not working (notearning), not to fire (even for cooking) to protect the crops, property and home from fireand fire.






How to celebrate
In the church calendar Pavlyovden is celebrated on 29 June (Day of the holy apostles Peter and Paul), but people take it private holiday and it notes the next day (June 30).St. Paul is one of the 12 Apostles. Еxchange visit 17.05-20.05.2011


At 20.05. at school arrived students and teachers from the five partner countries at the project“Heritage of Europe- traditions are alive. "


The five coutries are Romania,Bulgaria,Slovakia,Turkey and Italy.




Guests were welcomed by all students and teachers, majorettes and play music fanfare .




The guest ariived at 09 am and were welcomed by everyone.

Besides school activities our guests were acquainted with the nature of Balgariya.



They visited rocks and assured how beautiful our country.
